Turning Playtime into Progress: Expert Dog Training at Abby’s

At Abby’s Dog Daycare, we believe every dog thrives when given structure, consistency, and clear communication. That’s why our training programs are built around these core values, guided by our trainer who brings more than 30 years of experience, a certification from Animal Behavior College, and recognition as a Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator by the AKC. Whether your dog needs basic obedience, better manners, or help overcoming behavioral challenges, we offer a variety of flexible programs designed to fit your goals and your schedule.

For families looking for fast, focused results, our Board & Train programs offer highly effective immersive training. The 7-day Full Board & Train runs Monday through Sunday and includes full-time care, overnight boarding, and two daily training sessions. During this intensive week, your dog focuses on up to three custom commands chosen by you—such as Heel, Recall, Sit, Stay, Down, Wait at the Door, Place, or Leashed Walking. For dogs who need more time to learn and apply commands, we offer weekday-only programs: a 2-week (10 day) program and a 3-week (15 day) program. Over these extended stays, your dog works on multiple foundation commands and, in the 3-week program, targeted behavior modules such as jumping, barking, nipping, leash reactivity, resource guarding, reinforcement in public, or housebreaking. With daily structured training and consistent reinforcement, dogs build strong habits that carry over long after the program ends.

For owners who want to stay more actively involved in the process, our 6-week training program is a great option. Once a week for six weeks, you’ll drop your dog off for two private training sessions, then join a 30-minute review at pickup where our trainer shows you the exact commands, leash handling, and reinforcement techniques your dog learned that day. This program helps build confidence not only for your dog but also for you, ensuring you’re able to continue training consistently at home between sessions.

We also offer group training classes for families who prefer a collaborative, social learning environment. These classes are ideal for friendly, non-aggressive dogs and are available in four skill levels: Puppy, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Classes meet on Saturdays and Tuesday evenings, making it easy to fit training into your schedule. Before every dog joins a group class, they begin with a private evaluation to determine the right placement. Puppies aged 2 to 5 months start with confidence-building basics including crate training, socialization, and curbing behaviors like jumping, biting, and barking. Beginner classes focus on foundation commands like Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Heel, and Place. Intermediate classes raise the difficulty with distractions, distance, and longer command holds. Advanced classes introduce off-leash training using e-collars (sold separately), reinforcing commands under real-world distractions and helping dogs gain reliable freedom.

For families seeking individualized support, private one-on-one lessons are also available and can be fully customized to your dog’s unique needs and goals. Whether it’s addressing a specific behavior or building more polish into obedience, these sessions allow for focused, personalized attention.

No matter which program you choose, Abby’s Dog Daycare is committed to helping your dog become the happiest, most confident version of themselves. From immersive Board & Train programs to hands-on weekly sessions and social group classes, we offer training solutions for every dog and every lifestyle.
